Become a Good Reader! Six Simple Steps
Make these vocabulary books with your students to emphasize the importance of using pictures while reading.
• Give students a word that relates to a thematic unit. For example, if your topic is “Families,” you might write words like “mother,” “father,” “sister,” “grandmother,” etc.
• In small groups or independently, have students select a word and illustrate it. You can create a class book or several small-group books of the word illustrations.
• Students can share books with the class and their families.
