We have been providing free one-on-one literacy tutoring for adult residents of Anne Arundel County since 1977.
Our tutors are trained in an "each one, teach one" phonics-based method, emphasizing teaching an adult to read as quickly as possible.
AACLC has been successful due to the participation of its outstanding volunteers and students.
Adult literacy opportunities throughout the county are on-going and training workshops are conducted several times a year.
Our primary goal is to meet our students' individual needs.
Tutoring takes place in libraries and churches, as well as at our office headquarters.
