need volunteers to work with adults who need help learning to read, improving
their reading
skills, or learning to read, speak, and write the English language.
Our
core program is one-to-one tutoring. If you want additional information about

The
WORD Project
consists of three programs: Adult English As A Second Language, Homework
Assistance Skills Development (an after school tutorial for youth), and Drop
in and
Learn for families. All three of our programs depend on dedicated volunteers
who serve
two hours a week for a minimum of six months. We
are located on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids in the Steepletown Center
at the
corner of Fifth and Davis Streets across from St. Adalberts Church. If interested
