Heavenly Paws, an affiliate of Delta Society's Pet Partner Program
Looking for volunteer coordinator to institute Delta Pet Partners' R.E.A.D. program for Orlando affiliate. This program involves the use of therapy dogs (trained w/food between book pages!) who "need" children to read to them...Non-judgemental, reading assistance dogs are currently making great strides for literacy in other areas. AmeriCorps Polk Reads is a grant funded reading tutoring program in Polk County, Florida. AmeriCorps members and volunteers tutor students in Kindergarten through Third grade in Reading, incorporating read-alouds, story-based activities and other methods to enhance the students skills and reading strategies.
