Directions:

Have the children stand and follow along with you. To begin this exercise, put your arms in the air and say "a." Touch your shoulders and make the short a sound. Touch your toes and name something that begins with the short a sound, such as "apple."
Put your hands in the air and say "b." Touch your shoulders and make the b sound.Touch the floor and say something that starts with that sound (e.g., "bubble"). Exercise as you work through the alphabet.

Adaptations:

Point to the letters on a chart or other display as you say them.
Spell out words using phonercise.
Challenge children to name words in a particular category as you phonercise. For example, they could name just animals, foods, or actions.
Let the children make letters using their bodies, or divide them into small groups to form letters with their bodies.
