Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I believe there's something to this
Sudbury Valley is a K-12 school in Framingham, Massachusetts, that gives students freedom to use their time however they choose (no grades, no required classes, etc).

The strength of Sudbury Valley is that it acknowledges what a "normal" school doesn't: that learning how to be a member of a community is more important than learning math and science. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Not for every student, but perfect for many

My own experience as a former student at one of these schools could not be more dissimilar to the contents of this book.

We're currently in a paradigm shift in education, and this book documents how Sudbury Valley School in Framingham, Massachusetts has reacted quite successfully to that shift. They have created a school where "the inmates are in charge," meaning the kids control everything about the school...and do so very successfully. For over 30 years, kids have run the school and gotten a better education as a result that they could get at any other school. A remarkable book, and a remarkable story. If you're into the ...
