Editorial Review:
Product Description:
In this learning strategies book, a lemon puppet chooses to "make lemonade" when he is given a lemon which is the chore of helping a discouraged child who has difficulty remembering directions. Music, discussion questions, and lesson plans are included for encouragement and for learning how to learn and to remember.

- I wish all children saw this before third grade. The book has an introduction to the idea of using learning strategies for the youngest children. As the author says, most teaching about how to learn begins in fourth grade. The little story and puppet help introduce the idea on a young child's level. Then there are some brief practical uses of strategies for K-3 children. One which I love is a great memory strategy for remembering left from right.

- engaging and childlikeAs you can tell from the cover, the illustrations are engaging and childlike. In a gentle fantasy, children are helped to deal with a difficult subject namely not remembering well enough to do well in school. - kim BoringI do not like the art work or the book cover. I like a book that makes me laugh and I can learn from. It seems like the kid has a problem I cannot relate to this book.
Rating:
- Very disappointingI am quite disappointed in this book: actually, weighing in at 32 pages it is barely a book and more of a pamphlet. The much-touted learning strategies occupy a scant page and a half and duplicate the same content that a minimal amount of web browsing would gather on the same topic. The illustrations in the book are amateurish and my first grader unfortunately found the story unengaging. Despite taking a 40% loss on the cost, I'm returning this item.

- learning strategies are a big helpSomeone told me about this book and how it teaches kids learning strategies. It does it with a story to get their interest. I've been using the ideas in this book and they are a big help. It can help any kid but especially one with LD. The writer has a website with free stuff that helps a lot too.
